A thought for victims
AS estate agent Janice Griffiths completes her first week behind bars, it is worth sparing a thought for the people whose trust she abused. These were not just strangers she stole money from, but people that trusted her and put most of their life savings in her safe keeping. Her abuse of trust goes far beyond a simple theft - she also destroyed these people's lives. The Warrington Guardian was the first newspaper to expose Mrs Griffiths-Devers four years ago when her London Road estate agency collapsed. Not only were people left without thousands of pounds of unpaid wages, the firm collapsed with debts of more than £150,000. The sentence she has started serving should act as a warning to all others involved in white collar crime. And hopefully it will mean less people will be left in the horrible position that her victims have been left in.
